Chef Goldblum’s Jazzy Snags or That Time I Met Jeff Goldblum

Chef Goldblum’s Jazzy Snags or That Time I Met Jeff Goldblum

If you’ve been paying attention to the internet lately, you might have noticed that Jeff Goldblum was in Sydney yesterday handing out free sausages from the back of a food truck dubbed “Chef Goldbum’s Jazzy Snags”.

He was in Wynyard Park while I was in a meeting but thanks to a good friend of mine, I had a sneaky heads up and managed to make it down to Circular Quay for his second stop of the day. I raced down with some friends from work straight after said meeting where we found Chef Goldblum’s Jazzy Snags parked right near the MCA. It was here that saw Chef Goldblum in the fresh, took a few photos and gratefully accepted a sausage sandwich from the hands of Jeff Goldblum himself.

Needless to say, I was more than just a little bit excited. Keeping my cool in the line was no easy feat, andΒ thanks to this segment onΒ Sunrise, you can witness me grinning like a crazy person for yourself.

These was quite a crowd, but thankfully we got there early and didn’t have to wait too long.

Crowd for Jeff Goldblum

Jeff (we’re on a first name basis now) was super nice and so willing to pose for photos and chat to everyone that stopped by. I asked him what he was doing in town and he told me he was filming for a movie. That’s all he’d say for the time being, so watch this space…

But how about Chef Goldblum’s food?

The icing on the cake was that the food truck (actually The Fancy Banger) served up delicious sausage sandwiches. And the icing on top of that icing was the fact that it was free. Who said there’s no such thing as free lunch?

I wasn’t even planning to eat one (leftovers in the fridge, guys) – but you can’t refuse a sandwich handed to you by Jeff Goldblum andΒ once I started, I couldn’t stop. There were three options but I ate whatever I was handed which turned out to be pork, veal and fennel sausage with grated provolone, homemade tomato sauce and mixed leaves. It was so darn good. The tomato sauce was thick and tasty – kind of like meatball sauce, so it felt like I was eating a cross between a sausage sandwich and a really good meatball sub.Β I loved every bite.

My friend and trusted informant, featured below (and also on a bunch of news websites), had the same and enjoyed it just as much. Although, he was so distracted by making sausage jokes with Jeff Goldblum, he didn’t pay his sandwich the attention it deserved. Understandably.

All in all, it was a really fun way to spend my Wednesday lunch time. To be honest, I’m not sure any future lunch times will be able to top it.
